CLOVIS CORE-BLADE
FENN CACHE
FORREST FENN COLLECTION

One of the earliest stone tool technologies in North America is a process that produces long narrow flakes called blades. These blades were struck off a larger piece of stone called a core. This example is the only Core-Blade contained within the Fenn cache. Core-Blades could be used to make end-scrapers, side-scrapers, perforators and other assorted tool types that vary in different regions of the country.
This Blade may have been used as a side scraper. The edges are no longer sharp as it would have been when newly struck off a core.

Clovis core blade from Fenn cache triple exposed.
