CLOVIS CULTURE
MAMMOTH BONE CHOPPER
CLEAVER 1-A
LANGE--FERGUSON MAMMOTH KILL SITE

This large mammoth bone fragment was the largest artifact found on the Lange--Ferguson site and may be the largest so far discovered on any Clovis site. The bone was bifacially flaked and exhibits overlapping hinge fractures at the distal end of flake scars and crushing on the dorsal end from utilization in butchering activities. In-other-words when it was studied under a microscope it was discovered that it was used by human hands and not shaped this way by the natural elements or other animals gnawing or stepping on it.

The lower picture is a triple exposure showing both sides and one edge.
