SHELL MASK GORGET
SCHUYLER COUNTY, ILLINOIS

   This small shell mask gorget was found in Schuyler
County, near the town of Bluff City, Illinois by Floyd
Starkey in 1959. He found it while digging a
foundation for a house. This shell mask is engraved
with a more complicated eye design known as a
weeping eye design or forked eye surround. Also
notice that only one eye has a circle engraved around
it. This shell mask measures 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm) long
and 3 1/4 inches (8.2 cm) wide.
