This side of
the Wendler tablet shows the typical cross-hatching design that is seen on
most of these sandstone tablets. The reverse side is smooth. This tablet
was found several years ago by Marvin Wendler near Kunnemann mounds on the
Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. It measures 3 x 2 3/8 inches.
Two of these tablets are illustrated in "Cahokia Brought
To life" (195?) and another is illustrated in "The Cahokia Mound
Group" (1938 p.29).
